iPads in the Classroom :)
Part 1: iPad Rules
- Clean Hands: Wash and dry your hands before using an iPad.
- Protect Your iPad: This includes being gentle with the iPad, and not drinking liquids near the iPad.
- Respect Time: Only use the iPad when you are instructed to use it. When using the iPad with a partner, remember to work together.
- Follow Instructions: Use only the apps you are instructed to use by your teacher
- Sleep Your iPad: When the teacher is talking, sleep your iPad while you are listening
- Delete When Done: Delete any photos, videos or work that you no longer need when you have finished your lesson.
- Turn Off: Turn off the iPad when you are finished using it so the battery is conserved.
Part 2: General and Content Specific Apps
This app allows users to record video footage, edit footage and integrate pictures into a complete movie. Special effects, audio, and transitions are among the many editing features of the application. Teachers can use this application to create videos with or for their students. It is a great way to introduce a new unit!
This app allows users to take notes, save web pages, create lists, take pictures, record voice and much more. It helps keep anyone organized, especially because it updates across all platforms. Teachers can use this application to save information they find, take notes and record information in a meeting. Reminders can also be made so that things are not forgotten.
This tool is a great way to display a collection of words visually. The app allows users to input a collection of words, select a layout, color scheme and font to create a visual layout of the word collection. This is a great way for teachers to display vocabulary words to a class, or create a poster image for key themes in a novel.
abc PocketPhonics is a great application for Kindergarten students. Teachers can use this app to introduce students to key letter sounds. The app is also great for teaching students to write each letter, as the kids can follow the cursor on the app with their finger to practice writing each letter.
LetterSchool is another great iPad app for Kindergarteners. The app teaches students all about letters, numbers, sounds, and counting. The app has several different "games" that work on letters, phonics, numbers, counting, and motor skills with students.

Splash Math is a great math learning tool for 1st graders. The application is an electronic math workbook that covers over 185 math skills. The application is trackable so teachers can track their students' progress and note their areas of struggle. The app is also available in other grade levels.
